I was glad to be early for my visit with John DeVore because it gave me some time to explore the immediate area around York Street, the first stop into Brooklyn on the F train from Manhattan, and to grow romantic notions of how wonderful it must be to live and work in such a unique place.
The area, popularly called "DUMBO," is fenced in and tied down by bridges.
