Commissioned by forum member Struts for his new 'table. See my other Mpingo posts for details on the material itself, but a few new things came up. First it that the wood itself does contain some odd defects that one would normally not encounter in regular woods like maple, cherry or walnut. Strange pockets of liquid resin can appear and unfortunately a stress crack was revealed just as I finished the (first) clamp! It appeared perfect before being turned but deep in the wood was a hairline crack. So the clamp Struts got was a SECOND version. I kept the first and it seems to work fine, although I didn't have time for extensive testing with either clamp. I'm still not sure if it's adding anything sonically to my TT, but it does look pretty.  The block of wood itself cost something like $80, just enough for the two clamps, but I still have a few chunks left so maybe I'll play around with more of the Mook "magic."
UPDATE: For my full review of it's sonic properties see the Tweaks n Tips section, but the long story short is that it definitely adds some very positive qualities to the sound of my analogue setup and works like a charm.
