Description: Based on one of the many isolation platform/roller block designs for isolation of your equipment, in particular turntables. The primary shelf is solid curly maple, that sits on steel points into steel cups. Part of the bottom also uses constrained layer damping with a 1/16" layer of rubber and sandwiched to 3/4" MDF. This is about 40% of the bottom of the shelf to add extra stiffness and damping. Machined into the top of the shelf are 4 holes with concave bottoms to hold 3/4" steel balls. The plinth on top, which has matching machined cups, is solid bloodwood, which is just a few points shy of ebony hardness. Result? Hard for me to believe. Big improvements in mid range and highs- clarity like I had no idea I could squeeze out without a cartridge upgrade, and it's not like I felt like the sound was in any way warm or sluggish before. It's like the whole spectrum just opened up and I'm getting all sorts of extra ambient detail and soundstage clarity. And it looks pretty sweet too!
