Description: I had my gear set-up behind the Southern Theater's proscenium arch. Recorder was a Mac mini running Metric Halo's Console tracking and mixing software, used in conjunction with a Metric Halo MIO2882, which has 8 channels of mic preamps and A/D converters, and a Metric Halo ULN-2, which has 2 channels, both set to 44.1kHz and 24-bit word length and connected to the Mac mini via Firewire. As I need 4 more channels, I hooked up a dCS 904 ADC to the digital input of each Metric Halo unit, using one of the 904s as the master clock for all the A/D converters. These were fed from two Millenia Media HV3 low-noise 2-channel mike preamps.

Producer Erick Lichte wanted to take home with him each night a recording of the concert, so I recorded the sound reinforcement mix on the Alesis Masterlink you can see above the dCS converters, burning a CD from its hard drive once the concert had ended. At the same time I backed up the day's work -- around 12GB's worth of data -- from the Mac's internal drive to an external drive.

Final bit of gear is the API Power Wedge isolation transformer and AC conditioner under the table, into which everything was plugged. The Metric Halo ULN-2, BTW, was powered from a linear supply made for me by Wavelength Audio's Gordon Rankin.

I love it when I'm RIGHT! Did that piano just play a snap crackle pop?
