Dimensions: 750 x 1000
Description: For years and years I've had my cd collection scattered all over the house....in cabinets, in drawers. Few months ago I hunted locally and on the web for some cabinets. The only one I could find that was adequate was from California and I live in Florida. The shipping/handling costs were so high, I decided to have a go at building my own. That is, two of my own; my collection has 1000 cds. Each shelf holds 65 cd's so I have room for around 750 in each cabinet. (By the way, I'm guessing that the final cost was easily as much as the California cabinets would have been, but they're exactly what I wanted.)

Materials: 2x8's for the framework, 1x6's for the shelving, 30" stock closet folding doors from the building supply, backerboard (I don't remember what this is called, but it's around 1/4" thick and I had it cut to size), hinges, brackets for attaching cabinets to wall at top (into 2x4's), door pulls.

Comments: Make absolute certain that the lumber is perfectly square...all sides. You probably should buy a tool (see picture of one) that holds the vertical and horizontal 2x8's together at the corners so that they are perfectly square when you attach them. Be cautious when you attach the doors. The hinges I used have a spring effect that needed to be allowed for so that the doors would close properly.

What a pleasure these cabinets are. I'm finding cds that I had forgotten I even had.
