Description: McIntosh is virtually unique in still using output transformers, not only for its tube amplifiers but also for its solid-state amplifiers to achieve the optimal matching of amplifier and load. These, along with the AC supply transformers, are all wound in house. The lady shown in the photograph has been winding transformers for 34 years. The average tenure of the 144 Binghampton staff is 16 years!

<to achieve the optimal matching of amplifier and load> excuse me, but, maybe I`m wrong, matching two inductive loads together is extremely difficult- matching speakers coils with transformer coil is everything but easy. O.K. when you have luck and your transformer matches to speakers- you can enjoy really superb sound, but if not....:p
