Thanks for the article on this speaker. I bought 4 of them before this was released at the beginning of April. I probably have about 150 hours on them so far. There is one comment in the article that I don't understand.

"If there's such a thing as an $1800/pair loudspeaker that isn't for audiophiles, I'd say it's the Dynaudio Focus 140. I don't mean that it doesn't adhere to such audiophile tenets as truth and accuracy, and I certainly don't mean that it doesn't measure well. (I haven't yet seen JA's measurements, of course, but Dynaudio speakers are engineered in Denmark

While it is certainly more appropriate for WP to comment on what he meant, I took it to mean that the 140 doesn't demand a finicky set-up or particular sonic characteristics from the supporting components. In other words, the 140 sounds great and you don't have to stress out about system matching. That, of course, disqualifies them from being "audiophile" gear. He was poking fun at all of us, including himself.

The phrase also alludes to an African proverb, "It takes a whole village to raise a child", that Hillary Rodham Clinton made famous.

I think what is being conveyed is that these speakers don't require the audiophile stamp of approval or the audio community to declare that they sound good; they'll sound good to anyone, even non-audiophiles.

If that is truly what's being conveyed then I am even more confused. Why would any speakers need an audiophile stamp of approval, or any stamp of approval, to declare they sound good?
